Understanding Wine

3 x two hour sessions $360.00

Day One: the method

This class establishes an understanding of the way the elements of wine impact upon the senses and constructs a method with which to assess a glass of wine.

Day Two: aromatics

Using the method across a range of aromatic wines, this class concentrates on the singular expression of fruit to define points of difference between varieties and styles, both white and red.

Day Three: sensuous technique

Working with styles which demand flavour and sensation introduced by winemaking technique such as barrel fermentation and oak maturation, this class takes the method to a new level of detail and complexity with whites and reds.

This class assumes an understanding of wine in those attending.

Masked Tasting

1 x three hour session - no charge

Dates to be announced from August.

Available to those who have completed 'Understanding Wine', those attending will assess a range of wines across variety, style and region and, with agreement, their opinions will be reflected in the final assessment of each session wine on this website.
